Attendance

Attendance and Punctuality

Excellent attendance is the foundation for academic success and personal growth.

We expect students to attend at least 97% of the time. Anything below this will trigger intervention from the Attendance and Safeguarding Team.

Reporting Absence

Call 0161 6205859 before 8:15am each day of absence. You must provide a clear reason and an expected return date. Unauthorised absences will trigger follow-up from staff and will likely lead to fines.

Holidays in Term Time

Holidays will not be authorised. Any time off for holidays will result in a Fixed Penalty Notice (£160 per parent per child)

Late arrival disrupts learning for everyone. Sanctions escalate throughout the week:

  • 3 Lates across the week: Same-day detention
  • 4th Late: + second detention on the same day
  • 5+ Lates: Study room and potential suspension

Why Attendance Matters

Students who attend regularly:
  • Make better academic progress
  • Build stronger friendships
  • Develop confidence and life skills
  • Are more likely to succeed in exams and careers
Poor attendance = Lost learning
  • Just 90% attendance means nearly 4 weeks of school missed in a year.
  • Every minute and every day matters
