Waterhead Academy Class of 2025 Celebrate Exam Success

Waterhead Academy students celebrate exam success as they received their GCSE and vocational results in school this morning. There was a real buzz of excitement, as the vast majority secured a first-choice place at college, apprenticeship or employment.

More students were celebrating top GCSE grade 9s this summer, across a wide range of subjects.

A significant number of students achieved outstanding grades, Jensen McMahon achieved a remarkable 5 Grade 9s and 3 Grade 8s and 2 Grade 7s. Jensen is looking forward to moving on to The Oldham Sixth Form college to study maths, Philosophy, Biology and Psychology. Jensen throughout his time at Waterhead displayed the Waterhead core values of ambition and determination to ensure that he achieved the highest grades of everyone at Waterhead in the class of 2025.

There were a number of students who exceeded expectations, we are incredibly proud of and achieved incredible progress in their time at Waterhead including Demi Clegg and Haris Shakeel who will both be joining Oldham Sixth form and The Blue Coat school respectively.

Tracy Foy, Principal at Waterhead Academy said: "We are proud of the achievements and determination of our year 11 students. Their outcomes are testament to their hard work, commitment and ability, as well as the academic, pastoral and careers support and guidance they have received during their time at Waterhead".

Cllr Arooj Shah, leader of Oldham Council, joined students at Waterhead said:

“I was delighted to join the students at Waterhead Academy who have done incredibly well in their studies. The energy in the room was inspiring – the students were full of enthusiasm and excitement for the future. It was a real honour to share in their celebrations and achievements, and to see the pride on the faces of their families and teachers. Days like this show the strength, talent and potential we have here in Oldham, and I wish every student the very best for the journey ahead.”

Mrs Foy, Waterhead’s Principal, added:

“Whilst students are a lot more than a set of grades, the qualifications they have achieved are a passport to the next phase of their education, training or employment. We are delighted that many will now go on to pursue their passions in a diverse range of fields – from Science, Economics and Business to, Sport and Fashion. We have every confidence that, whatever their next steps, they are all capable of achieving great things and we wish them all the very best for a successful and happy future in education and beyond".
